I am now beginning to panic. I really want to have the upstairs done before we have to move from the other house.
The drywall is taking forever and we cannot get to the floors until they have finished.
I was so upset when I got back from packing the other house to see how much more drywall work needed to be done.
The guys are now on super fast mode to have it finished this week so we can have the pine delivered for the floors.
Once the wood is delivered it has to sit for a few days before we can start nailing it down.
Brian John and I worked at getting more of the garage ready for concrete. Russell and John worked most of yesterday preparing the base. When we have breaks Russell goes and sands the drywall.
Today was my most favourite job(not), putting down the tubes for heated floors. We seem to be doing this on some of the coldest day of the year. I get to stand there holding the roll and unwinding it so they can tie it down with plastic zip-ties and as soon as we get the stuff outside it stiffens up and is hard to unroll. Their job is harder on the back and knees, I just freeze.
I am so cold I am wrapped in a duvet to warm up. Just my head and hands sticking out.
We will aim to pour on Thursday and get another John to screed and power-trowel the floor. He did a great job on the workshop so we don't mind having to pay extra for him to do this. The concrete company will use hot water and warm the stone mix for the concrete for this cold weather.
There is also a propane heater arriving tonight so we can warm the space. All of the diesel heaters were gone and it would be nicer to have one of those but what can ya do.
I just need to push to get the upstairs ready for the end of Feb. If the drywall is done priming and painting can be done too. The trim for the windows, doors etc. can wait and be done at our leisure.
The photos are of a storm we got on Saturday. When we arrived here on Friday there was no snow. There is no snow most places around us. This was just for us. By the time it was done you could not see the tires on the van. I hate winter, I really really do hate winter.
